Iowa Grown
FRESH PICKED, LONG LASTING BLOOMS
OUR FARM
Welcome to Saylor Creek Flower Farm! We are a private boutique flower farm located in Saylor Township, just north of Des Moines, Iowa. Over the past few years, we have carefully transformed our quarter acre of flat southern facing lawn into a productive farm that pumps out buckets of specialty cut flowers from April to October. We grow over 40 varieties of annuals, perennials, bulbs and foliage.

What We Grow
Saylor Creek Flower Farm grows a collection of unique cut flower varieties selected for their color palate, stem length and vase life. We plant in multiple successions throughout the spring, summer, and fall so we can offer a changing menu of seasonal blooms and foliage from April to October.
Soil-First Farming
Saylor Creek Flower Farm applies organic farming methods to the practice of flower farming. We believe that prioritizing the health of the soil is the best way to ensure strong, robust, long-lasting flowers. After an initial till, we layer in home-grown compost. We protect our soil with cover crops, mulch, leaves, and straw, not plastic. During the growing season, we only use non-chemical fertilizers such as alfalfa and practice companion planting for pest control.
The Big Picture
SCFF is excited to be part of a movement happening across the nation to bring a portion of the cut flower market back to the US. Instead of importing flowers that have to travel thousands of miles to get to your vase, small flower farms are popping up all over to change the supply chain. Who benefits? We all do. Local flowers simply last-longer and don’t require preservative sprays to survive long plane trips. Also, we are supporting our local economy, creating jobs, and connecting with our community.
At Saylor Creek Flower Farm, it all comes back to ...
more color (less gray), more fresh air & sunshine (less staring at screens), more creativity & artistry (fewer rules). We like to say we are growing color and joy in living soil - and sharing it with our community.
