The Farm
The inspiration for Saylor Creek Flower Farm came from a simple desire to cut down the amount of time spent mowing our backyard. Our home in Saylor Township is situated on a wonderful flat quarter acre of south facing lawn which truly was a blank canvas when we bought it! We talked about putting in a pool or even a volleyball court, but in the end, decided to start with a garden. I enrolled in the Master Gardener program with the initial goal of growing lots of vegetables. But not long after that first season of tomatoes and cucumbers, I learned of the work Floret was doing with specialty cut flowers and quickly pivoted. I was captivated by their beauty, curious about their potential in Iowa, and envisioned our backyard filled with rows of blooms!

The original SCFF Backyard Flower Farm is where it all began. In 2026, this land will transition to become our Test Farm where we trial new varieties before putting them into production.

The new SCFF Fields were previously used to organically grow asparagus. While we will continue to harvest and sell the asparagus, we will also be adding specialty cut flowers and heirloom pumpkins.
