What We Grow

Saylor Creek Farm grows a collection of unique cut flower varieties selected for their color palate, stem length and vase life. We plant in multiple successions throughout the spring, summer, and fall so we can offer a changing menu of seasonal blooms and foliage from May through September.

Soil-First Farming

Saylor Creek Farm applies organic farming methods to the practice of flower farming. We believe that prioritizing soil health is the best way to ensure strong, robust, long-lasting flowers. After an initial till, we layer on home-grown compost and utilize cover crops to protect and amend the soil. During the growing season, we only use natural fertilizers, such as alfalfa, and practice companion planting for pest control.

The Big Picture

SCF is excited to be part of a movement happening across the nation to bring a portion of the cut flower market back to the US. Instead of importing flowers that have to travel thousands of miles to get to your vase, small flower farms are popping up all over to change the supply chain. Who benefits? We all do. Local flowers simply last-longer and don’t require preservative sprays to survive long plane trips. Also, we are supporting our local economy, creating jobs, and connecting with our community.
